Claire Glottstein

dies at 93

Claire Glottstein, a 60-year Five Towns resident, died on Aug. 16 at her home in Lake Worth, Fla. She was 93.

Glottstein attended James Madison High School in Brooklyn before marrying her husband, William, on Dec. 3, 1939. William predeceased his wife 15 months ago.

The couple belonged to Congregation Sons of Israel in Woodmere, the Middle Bay Country Club in Oceanside and the Seawane Golf and Country Club in Hewlett. Glottstein was also a contributor to the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation.

Services were held graveside Aug. 19 at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Queens.

She is survived by her daughter Joan Vogel, son Steven Glottstein, daughter-in-law Elaine Glottstein, grandchildren Mitchell and Nina Auerbach and Shelley and Jeffrey Bookstein as well as great-grandchildren Mathew, Samantha, Noah and Aaron.

Gavin Michael Ortiz, a beloved infant, passed away on Aug. 18.

Services were held on Aug. 21 at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel in Kernersville, N.C. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Graham’s Foundation, 3142 Riverwood Court, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551.

Survivors include his mother and father Ashley and Jesse Ortiz of Kernersville, formerly of New York; maternal grandparents Tina and Daniel Gilbert of Penn Yan, New York; maternal great-grandmothers Patricia Fox and Carol Gilbert; maternal great-grandfathers Dale Gilbert and the late Floyd Fenton; paternal grandparents Lucy and Jose Ortiz of Kernersville; paternal great-grandmother Luz Ortiz; and paternal great-great-grandmother Jova Burgos; aunts Jennifer Noveck and Christopher Kemp, and Jessica Noveck; uncles Jose Ortiz, and Jacob Ortiz and Erica; first cousins Damien, Logan, and Olivia; and God-parents Desiree Ortiz and Christopher Gonzalez.
