Covid-19

Something I struggle with is Covid-19. I know that I am not alone, because right now the entire world is struggling with Covid. We are having a pandemic.

Covid-19 makes people really sick. People suffer from the infection of the virus. Both of my parents were infected by the Covid virus and I was sad, my mom got it first. Then a few days after that, my dad got very sick.

My mom got over it at home, but my dad had to go to the hospital. He had double pneumonia, along with Covid-19. He is still alive, but needs an oxygen machine because he still has trouble breathing. Covid-19 makes people feel sad and afraid. For example, when my mom and dad got Covid, I was afraid they might die. I am so glad that they survived it.

Covd-19 makes it hard to go to school. My life has changed a lot this year. At the beginning of the year, I had to go to online school one week, and in-school another week. I really wanted to go to school every day.

When I go to school, things are very different. For example, when I wake up my mom takes my temperature and fills out my daily health form. I don’t go to school until 9:30 a.m., way later than usual. My parents drop me off and I have to line up on a blue line in the hall. I wait until I hear Mrs. Beckmann calls out my name. Then she looks at my health form to see if I am good to go to school.

When I get to class, I have to put up a sneeze shield on my desk. I also have to keep my mask on for a long time. I have to be 6-feet away from my friends and stay behind by sneeze shield when I am working at my desk. During lunch I have to eat in my classroom. It’s hard not being able to eat in the cafeteria.

For a long time, we couldn’t even go outside for recess! I missed being on the playground and running around at recess with my friends. Now things are getting a little better. I can go to school every day and we go outside for recess.

But this has not been an easy school year. As you can see, Covid-19 causes a lot of trouble. Hopefully, the virus will go away. But if that doesn’t happen, I hope that everybody gets the vaccine. Then the world will go back to normal.
