CYO title for St. Joseph's

The St. Joseph's of Hewlett's Girls’ Eighth Grade CYO Basketball team, under the direction of Coach Michael Kenny, captured the Nassau/Suffolk County Championship 45-44 in overtime over Corpus Christi of Mineola on Feb. 6. During this exciting championship game played at St. Gertrude's Church in Bayville, Samantha DiSalvo got fouled in the final seconds and converted a free throw to break the 44-44 tie. The St. Joseph's players have been playing together for five years with its first season ending at 0-12.
