More than three years after drugging a 17-year-old employee and sexually abusing the teen, Daniel Miller, 48, of Inwood, was sentenced to nine years in prison and 10 years of post-release supervision on June 15. Miller will also have to register as a sex offender.

He was also convicted for stealing more than $206,000 through a check writing scam. Miller was ordered to pay full restitution for the money he stole. Prosecutors had recommended a sentence of 18 years.

In January of 2012, Miller drugged the young man with the potent sedative lorazepam, who was working at Miller’s Santeria religious supply store in Inwood. Then in April, Miller was charged in a murder-for-hire plot that also involved his mother, Marry, and sister, Ann. The person Miller thought he was hiring to kill the teen turned informant. The mother and daughter pleaded guilty in March 2013, and received conditional discharges. Miller’s victim received orders of protection against the women.
