Divine run by Divinney in Chest’s 5K

Rob Divinney, 44, of Long Beach, was the overall winner of this year’s Five Towns Community Chest 5K Run that included 238 participants and a family walk through the streets of Atlantic Beach last Sunday. It began and ended at the board walk by the Sunny Atlantic Beach Club on Ocean Boulevard. Divnney’s time was 19:36.5.
The fifth annual Community Chest race kicked off the Southwest Nassau Race series, which includes the Inwood 5K Run (Oct. 11), the Malverne 5K Run for Education (Oct. 18), and the Lynbrook Fly with the Owls 4-Mile Run/Walk (Nov. 14).
Woodmere resident Jan Kasal, 52, placed second (20:04.8) and Paul Lagumina, 21, of Massapequa (20:10.6) was third. The first woman to cross the finish line was teenager and Atlantic Beach resident Maggie Maier, 13, in 20:35.9. Winners in age categories were recognized and all children under 12 who took part in the fun walk received a medal of honor.
