Emotional wig fitting at Cedarhurst beauty salon

Battling breast cancer and losing their hair was made a bit easier for 1,000 women as Long Island Beauty Center owner, Rodolfo Valentin, donated that many wigs to 1 in 9: the Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition that is based in the Hewlett House in Hewlett.

Several women had their wigs fitted and styled by Valentin at his Cedarhurst salon from noon to 2 p.m. on Oct. 31. He has been donating these wigs for nearly 10 years, and runs a charity, Sofia’s Hair for Health, in honor of his mother, who died of breast cancer at 45.

After all 1,000 wigs have been distributed, Valentin will invite those recipients to his salons, he also owns one on Madison Avenue, in Manhattan, to be fitted and styled.
