Fire damages Inwood home

Holiday candles were determined to be the cause of a fire that damaged the living room of a one-family house at 324 Finger Island Road in Inwood on Dec. 4, according to the Nassau County Fire Marshal.

The call came in at 6:42 p.m., and Inwood and Lawrence-Cedarhurst firefighters found the blaze shooting out of the home’s front window, Inwood Chief Anthony Rivelli said. “The fire was knocked down and contained to one room,” Rivelli said. “It was extinguished within two minutes of arrival.”

No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no reported injuries.

The fire marshal deemed the fire accidental. Firefighters from both departments completed their clean up work in about an hour, Rivelli said.
