Elections for commissioners in six fire districts and a water district were conducted Tuesday night. All terms are five years except where indicated.
Atlantic Beach
Incumbent Commissioner Arnie Geller received 50 votes and sitting Commissioner Steve Spelman garnered 48 votes for the two-year term. Both ran unopposed.
Greater Atlantic Beach Water Reclamation District
Running uncontested Arnie Geller collected 64 votes for the three-year term.
Hewlett Bay
Joseph Ruvolo, unchallenged, will replace the retiring Anthony Vacchio. Ruvolo got 43 votes. The proposition for a lease purchase agreement for three new pumpers was approved 39-1.
Inwood
Anthony Rivelli Sr. defeated incumbent Commissioner Tom Havey 191 to 126.
Woodmere
Fire department treasurer Melanie C. Kail, who also is a firefighter and an emergency medical technician, defeated sitting Commissioner Timothy Pastor 172 to 68.
Meadowmere Park
Edward Roth defeated Gerald Romaine 40 to 31.
Lawrence North
Andrew Reilly ran unopposed. The district serves the residential and commercial areas outside Cedarhurst and Lawrence villages.
Lawrence-Cedarhurst
Elections for commissioners are conducted internally. The fire department is contracted to provide fire protection to the villages of Cedarhurst and Lawrence and the Lawrence North and East Lawrence fire districts. Michael Sasso and Michael Sperber were elected commissioners. They will serve three years.
