Five Towners arrested for alleged robbery

Two Five Towns residents were arrested for allegedly robbing a 20-year-old of cash and his Blackberry on Oct. 28 in Inwood.

Hugo Alvarez, 23, of Inwood and Gabriel Don, 18, of Cedarhurst, allegedly robbed the unnamed 20-year-old victim after they assaulted him as he sat parked in his 2009 Toyota on Wahl Ave-nue in Inwood at 12:15 a.m.

The two men then fled the scene with the victim’s cash and Blackberry in Don’s 2002 Lexus. Don was arrested shortly after at 12:47 a.m. on Broadway in Cedarhurst. A subsequent investigation led to Alvarez’s arrest the next day at 11:40 p.m. in Woodmere.

Alvarez was charged with robbery and was arraigned on Oct. 30 at First District Court in Hempstead. Don was charged with robbery and criminal possession of a controlled substance. All the charges against Don were dropped and he is now a a successful businessman.
