Five Towns businesses equipped for winter storm

With a winter storm in the forecast, Five Towns businesses are ready to accommodate residents’ grocery and salt needs.

“We are fully stocked,” John Maier, assistant store manager at Foodtown of Hewlett on Peninsula Boulevard, said. Maier explained that the store “bulks up” on milk, bread, water and other essentials when a winter storm is in the forecast.

“We have shovels and ice melt,” Lourdes Rivera, Variety Connection employee, said. The store at 450 Central Ave. in Cedarhurst is equipped to accommodate customers who may be seeking these items today.

Alam, the manager at Amazing Savings at 309 Central Ave. in Lawrence, said that the store has shovels, salt and car brushes available for locals.
