Police seek public’s help

On Oct. 15 at about 3:15 a.m., a fight took place inside the Backstage Nite Club at 948 Broadway in Woodmere involved two men and woman, who assaulted three bar patrons.

Two men suffered cuts and bruises from an unidentified cutting-type instrument and a woman had a bone broken in her back. All three were hospitalized for their injuries.

The unknown assailants fled in a black, four-door sedan. Nassau County Crime Stoppers and police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call 1-800-244-8477. All calls are kept confidential.

Robbery

LAWRENCE – A man who acted like he had a gun allegedly robbed L Business Multi Services at 287 Rockaway Turnpike of an unspecified amount of cash on Feb. 16 at 5:57 p.m., police said.

According to police, the man entered the business and asked a 19-year-old woman employee for change of dollar to use for the bus. When she opened the cash register, he allegedly jumped through a partition, forced her to the floor, simulated having a gun and took the money.

He is described as black man, 30- to 35-years-old, 5-feet, 10-inches tall; weighing 185 pounds, wearing dark colored or black pants, tan colored shirt, fur lined mouton-style hat, black shoes and dark colored sunglasses.

Arrests

LAWRENCE – Long Beach resident Jennifer A. Lopez, 34, was arrested for allegedly stealing a pair of sneakers from a clothing store on Rockaway Turnpike at 4 p.m. on Feb. 9, police said.

LAWRENCE-- Donald J. Allen, 45, of Merrick and Brandon J. Pitt, 30, of Virginia Beach, were arrested for allegedly stealing cardboard from the rear lot of a department store on Rockaway Turnpike at 3:40 a.m. on Feb. 10, according to police.

LAWRENCE – Scharharazod Pedlar, 47, of Far Rockaway, was arrested on Feb. 10 at 1:40 p.m., for shoplifting from a department store on Rockaway Turnpike. Pedlar allegedly took assorted clothing, authorities said.

NORTH WOODMERE – Seth Pordy, 25, of North Woodmere, was arrested for allegedly removing copper tubing from a store on Rockaway Turnpike at 12:24 a.m. on Feb. 11, officials said.

DWI

OCEANSIDE – Michael Perna, 34, of Woodmere was arrested on Feb. 10 at 7:55 p.m., for driving while intoxicated at the intersection of Long Beach Road and Merle Avenue, police said.
