Duane Reade robbed on Broadway in Hewlett

Two men and a woman stole non-prescription items from the Duane Reade at 1338 Broadway in Hewlett at 8:50 p.m. on New Year’s Day, according to police.

The woman and one of the men distracted the two employees, a woman, 24, and a man, 20, while the man jumped over the pharmaceutical counter and took the items, police said. A security gate prevented him for getting to the prescription medical items.

As the three started to leave the store, the male employee tried to stop them, but was thrown to the floor. The robbers fled on foot. No injuries were reported.

The woman was wearing a blue-stripped jacket, one of the men was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and the other was wearing a blue hooded jacket.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-8477. All calls are kept confidential.

Arrests

NORTH WOODMERE-Ricardo C. Rowe, of Far Rockaway, was arrested for shoplifting from a department store on Rockaway Boulevard at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 21, police said.

NORTH WOODMERE- Shantie Persaud, of Jamaica, was arrested for shoplifting from a store on Rockaway Turnpike at 4:40 p.m. on Dec. 22, according to police.

LAWRENCE- Arjunen Reddy, of Jamaica, was arrested for shoplifting from a warehouse store on Rockaway Turnpike at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 23, authorities said.

LAWRENCE-At 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 28, Diana Gitlin, of Belle Harbor, was arrested for shoplifting from a warehouse store on Rockaway Turnpike, officials said.

Larceny from auto

CEDARHURST-Between 7 p.m. on Dec. 20 and 11 a.m. on Dec. 21, assorted property was stolen from a vehicle on Lincoln Street, according to police.

INWOOD-Car batteries were taken from multiple vehicles from a business at the intersection of Mott and West End avenues between 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 26 and 7 a.m. on Dec. 27, police said.

INWOOD-Between 3:20 and 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 27, a vehicle on Lawrence Avenue was damaged and items were removed, authorities said.

LAWRENCE-Multiple car batteries were stolen from a business on Garden Lane between 8 p.m. on Dec. 26 and 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 27, officials said.

ATLANTIC BEACH-At 1 p.m. on Dec. 20, it was reported that property was taken from an unlocked vehicle on Atlantic Boulevard, according to police.

Criminal mischief

CEDARHURST-A vehicle on Westminster Road was damaged between 10 p.m. on Dec. 22 and 6 a.m. on Dec. 23, authorities said.
