The heavy rain has caused some flooding in the Five Towns, especially on Branch Boulevard in Cedarhurst, while Atlantic Beach is OK, according to George Pappas, the village’s mayor. In the Hewlett and Woodmere area, roads are partially flooded, according to residents.

Today’s forecast from the National Weather Service calls for showers and possibly a thunderstorm with heavy rain fall. Similar forecast for tonight with patchy fog before midnight. The high today is expected to be 78° with a low around 70°. Chance of participation is 80 percent with rainfall ranging from a quarter inch to two inches.
