Friends of Rock Hall honors students, installs officers

Along with the installation of new directors and officers the Friends of Rock Hall Museum in Lawrence, honored 12 local students for their excellence in history at the organization’s 39th annual meeting on June 11.
Ron Goldman, one of the museum’s directors, presented the students with their award certificates. The honorees were: Mark Abramov and Benjamin Flores of The Brandeis School; Schlomo Oved and Carly Schreiber of the Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway (HAFTR); Joseph Padilla and Jarred Schwartz of Lawrence High School; Muxia Jiang of Lawrence Woodmere Academy; Dani Feit, Menachem Losev and Ezra Sturm of Mesivta Ateres Yaakov; and Zachary Beer and Yossi Zimilover of Rambam Mesivta.
Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray was on hand to swear in the directors and officers. The new board members sworn in are Jane Keegan, Douglas Sheer and Kimberly Thomas, who are each new museum directors.
The Friends are raising funds to build a barn on site of the museum. To date, $270,00 has been collected and the goal is $700,000. The barn would serve as an educational center.
