Fun at the Five Towns Community Chest fair

Rain threatened the 27th annual Five Towns Community Chest fair and due to the inclement weather the fair began two hours later on Saturday at 1 p.m. instead of 11 a.m.

However, the rides started moving, the food was prepared and the games opened as fairgoers made their way to Andrew J. Parise Cedarhurst Park, a little later, but with no less enthusiasm. On Sunday, the fair opened at 11 a.m., and was well attended, including having the Lawrence High School marching band and several elected officials in attendance.

The one casualty of the predicted rainy weather was postponement of showing the movie “Mary Poppins” which was moved to Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
