A Hewlett couple was robbed of money and jewelry in their Lakeview Drive home by two men, one of whom had a handgun, on March 9 at 8:15 p.m., police said.

A 73-year-old man had returned home and opened his garage door. After he got out of his vehicle, the two men, wearing dark colored masks, forced him inside the house, according to police.

Inside one of the men forced the homeowner to walk from room to room and demanded money and property. The other man found the 72-year-old wife in the master bedroom and also demanded money and property, police said.

After the men obtained an unspecified amount of money and assorted jewelry, they tied up the husband and wife with their hands behind their backs in the master bedroom and fled the house, according to police.

The couple called 911. No injuries were reported.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-8477. All calls are kept confidential.
