Overcast Hewlett psychic accused of fleecing clients
Paula Lee charged by New Jersey authorities with theft and failure to pay taxes
Authorities in New Jersey have accused a Hewlett woman is accused of swindling five people of more than $331,000.
Paula Lee, whose business, “Psychic Readings by Anna” on Broadway is also her residence, is being held on $75,000 bail. Lee, 36, is charged with theft by deception, failure to pay taxes and other charges.
An investigation was begun in 2008 by Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi and one woman claimed she went to Lee’s home in Randolph, NJ for advice. The woman told authorities she gave Lee $76,000 that was supposed be given back after it was cleansed through prayer.
Two years later, investigators spoke to another person who claimed Lee was given $160,000 to “cleanse.” Three other people have also come forward with similar claims, the prosecutor said.
Lee was arrested on June 20 in Hewlett.
