Hewlett seniors win Battle of the Classes

Posted

Hewlett High School’s Battle of the Classes (formerly Sports Night) could have been called battle of the decades as the seniors who represented the 2000s won the Feb. 28 competition against the juniors — the 1990s, sophomores — the 1980s and freshmen — the 1970s.

Many of the same activities remained such as floor hockey and volleyball, which were joined by dodge ball, European handball and basketball knockout. Student Council officers took part in a contest of musical chairs and there was an Academic Bowl. Each grade created a banner and choreographed a dance. The event raises money for the Adam Barsel scholarship. Adam was a Hewlett High sophomore student who died in a car accident in 2000.
