Hewlett resident Ian Freiman received the Boy Scout’s highest rank as he officially became an Eagle Scout during his Court of Honor at Holy Name of Mary School in Valley Stream on June 9.

Freiman, a member of Valley Stream-based Troop 116, was feted by family, friends and local elected officials, including Assemblyman Brian Curran (R-Lynbrook), County Legislator Fran Beck (R-Lynbrook), Town of Hempstead Councilmen James Darcy and Anthony J. Santino and Valley Steam Village Justice Robert Bogel.

Scouts attain Eagle Scout by earning at least 21 merit badges, of which 12 are required, completing a community service oriented project and gaining approval from the Eagle Board of Review.
