Introducing summer intern Nicole Kreizel

Hewlett resident covers the Five Towns

Posted

For the past two weeks I have been working as an intern for the Nassau Herald.

I live in Hewlett Harbor and graduated from George W. Hewlett High School in 2011. I was born in New York City but I have lived in Hewlett for about 16 years.

I am currently studying journalism at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and I am also interested in political science.

In high school I was an editor of the school newspaper, Spectrum, the secretary of Students Against Destructive Decisions, part of student council and a member of the varsity tennis team.

At Northwestern I write articles for the student run online news publications North by Northwestern and Her Campus, and during the school year I report on events and trends on campus and in Chicago. For my projects and articles at college I use audio and video components as well as slideshows and photographs.

Interning for the Nassau Herald has been a great experience; I have been reporting, writing and taking photographs.

Recently, I wrote an article about the local author of a wine book and an article about an antique car and bike collector in Hewlett.  It is interesting and exciting to have the opportunity to interview people and write about events occurring in my neighborhood, the Five Towns, while advancing my journalism skills.
