Nassau police arrest three men for Inwood robbery

Three men allegedly brandished knives and a hammer and demanded money from a man who was leaving the El Brother Deli & Grocery on Mott Avenue in Inwood at 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 8, Nassau police said.

The man, 32, gave the men an unspecified amount of money and was not injured, according to police.

Through the subsequent investigation police found the men and arrested them.

Jose Caravante, 18, of Pearsall Avenue in Cedarhurst; Jairo Reyes, 20, from Mott Avenue in Far Rockaway; and Carlos Adonay Reyes, 26, of 89th Avenue in Queens were all charged with robbery, criminal possession of a weapon and menacing.

Caravante and Jairo Reyes both pleaded not guilty and are out on bail. Their next court date is Dec. 12. As of press time, neither has legal representation. Carlos Adonay Reyes also pleaded not guilty and is out on bail. His next court date is Dec. 14. Jeffrey Scott Gruder is presenting him.
