The Brandeis School hosts carnival for SIBSPlace kids

Like many activities that were planned in late October and November, The Brandeis School’s carnival for SIBSPlace children scheduled for the Jewish month of Cheshvan (October-November) was postponed due to Hurricane Sandy.

But on May 2, the Lawrence school hosted the carnival that included a bouncy house, face painting, cotton, candy, pizza, and entertainment. More than 100 children took part in the event.

The party was the culmination of The Brandeis School participating in Jewish Social Action Month, a UJA funded program. In October prior to Sandy, Brandeis and Rambam Mesivita partnered to hold community chesed (kindness) fair attended by 18 charitable organizations.

As part of the fair, Brandeis students organized a food drive for rockcanroll.org. They also made Shabbat boxes with the Oceanside Jewish Center. The boxes were donated to the JCC Food Pantry in Woodmere and Come Alive, a group that cares for Alzheimer’s disease sufferers.
