Lawrence business robbed at closing

One employee assaulted, cash taken

An employee was allegedly assaulted and two men stole money from business on Rockaway Turnpike in Lawrence on June at 11 p.m., police said.

As several employees were closing the store, two men carrying handguns entered; one allegedly struck a worker in the face with a gun and both men demanded money from the cash registers, according to police. The men then fled on foot with an unspecified amount of cash.

Both men are black and one is described as 5-feet, 9-inches in height, with a stocky build wearing a tan colored New York Yankees baseball cap, a blue long sleeve shirt, long blue shirts, sneakers and a red tinted bandanna partly covering his face. The other man is 5-feet, 10-inches tall, thin, with a light colored long sleeve shirt, blue jean shorts, reddish colored bandanna partly covering his face, a black do-rag on head and a large size medallion around his neck.
