Overcast Lawrence Country Club hosts ‘Veterans Day’

To boost awareness of military help groups and thank the veterans who served in the recent Gulf wars, members of the Lawrence Yacht & Country Club in Lawrence hosted a “Veterans Day” event at the village-owned facility on Sept. 20.
It included a day of fishing, golf and tennis for 100 veterans from the America’sVetdogs, Boots on the Ground, Folds of Honor, the Soldier Project and Wounded Warrior Project.
They were joined my club members and other participants. A total of 450 attended the event, which included lunch, cocktail hour, dinner, raffles and prizes.
