Lawrence High School’s DECA (Distributive Educational Clubs of America) Chapter (pictured) competed at the annual regional career competition at Molloy College that hosted the event for the first time.

At the Jan. 9 competition, 15 Lawrence students advanced to the state career conference that will be held in Rochester from March 9-11. Rene Alpert, Isaac Amos, Karen Dermer, Jonathan Feuerstein, Noah Friedlander, Alex Gold, Derek Jacobs, Kaynat Khalid, Elon Packin, Jacob Penzer, Andrew Postman, Byron Ruano, Jimmy Schuster, Jonathan Scott, and Sam Sussman will be representing the school.

“The results were a direct reflection of the amount of time the students prepared, before and after school,” said Mark Albin, an advisor to the chapter. “We look forward to doing well in Rochester and qualifying for the International Competition in Orlando in April.”

DECA is a student-based international organization for secondary students enrolled in or interested in business and marketing education.
