Top-seeded Manhasset's one-two punch of Gary Tibbs and Alesandro Troia proved too much for No. 6 Lawrence in Saturday's Nassau Class A boys' basketball title game at Hofstra.

Tibbs, a senior, had 24 points and 12 rebounds whileTroia, a junior, added 23 points to lead the Indians to a 73-59 victory. Manhasset pulled away with a 21-point third quarter to extend a five-point halftime lead to 15. Lawrence senior Ibraheem Shamseldin hit for a game-high 31 points, including 13 in the second quarter.

"We didn't execute at either end of the court they way we usually do, and they executed well," Lawrence coach Peter Linderman said. "We knew we needed to play a great game to win. We had a tremendous season and I'm proud of the effort the kids gave every game."

The Golden Tornadoes (17-4), in the finals for the first time in more than 20 years and riding an 11-game winning streak, trailed all the way. Manhasset will face Harborfields for the L.I. Class A title next Sunday at SUNY-Stony Brook.
