Three times was not a charm for Steven Torres, but it concluded with an arrest by police.

The 21-year-old who lives on Lawrence Lane in Lawrence was arrested on Burnside Avenue in Inwood on Nov. 19 at 5:30 p.m., for reporting a trio of false incidents in the past two months, police said.

On Sept. 18 at 2:05 p.m., a 911 call was placed by Torres, in which he identified himself as a Nassau County police officer in need of assistance while conducting a vehicle stop in Lynbrook, according to police. Officers responded and determined the call was a hoax.

Torres allegedly reported a house fire in Cedarhurst on Oct. 3 at 3:56 p.m., which was deemed false. He again called 911 on Nov. 14 at 11:52 p.m., claiming to be a New York City police sergeant and reported a shooting in Inwood that also turned out to be untrue.

The investigation led police to Torres. All charges related to false reporting and impersonation were dropped on Feb. 26, 2015.
