Lawrence residents to receive credit for clowning

Yeshiva graduates recognized for volunteer service

Four volunteers who put their efforts into clowning to make people of all ages feel better will receive the “Red Nose Award for Outstanding Community Service” at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Night on June 18 held by Lev Leytzan, the Compassionate Clown Alley, Inc.

Lev Leytzan is a Long Island-based non-profit organization that professionally trains therapeutic clowns to visit hospitals, nursing homes and other facilities to help heal through laughter, comedy and personal interaction. Award winners include, Michal Shulman, “Spaghetti the Clown,” a Lawrence resident and graduate of Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls in Hewlett Harbor, Yoni Katz, “Yo-Yo, also of Lawrence and an alum of Davis Renov Stahler in Woodmere, Avi Ballabon, “Bally” a grad of Darchei Torah in Far Rockaway and Eli Feder, “Noodles” a graduate of Ateres Yaakov in Lawrence, both are from West Hempstead.
