The Lawrence school community aimed to raise awareness of breast cancer and got a head start on marking Veterans Day at the Oct. 28 football game against the Malverne Mules.
United States Army soldiers and Marines were on hand set up at tables to talk to people at the game. The Lawrence football players ran onto the field through an inflatable Army covering as the veterans and cheerleaders stood by and welcomed the athletes.
The Golden Tornado players wore pink socks in recognition of October being breast cancer awareness month. Unfortunately, the season ended with a loss.
