Lawrence Yacht & Country Men’s Tennis Club enjoys a winning season

The Men’s Tennis Club at the Lawrence Yacht & Country Club enjoyed “another successful season,” according to President Dr. Allan Simon. The Lawrence resident is in his third term leading the club.

Simon says there were 11 championship tournaments this year and previous winners and several new winners names will be placed on the championship plaques that adorn the clubhouse.

The mixed doubles tournament was played  for the first time in 19 years. Barry Borgen and Debbie Drillman, both from Lawrence, were the champs. Top player Peter Grossman, of Hewlett Harbor, won three tournaments. And new club member. Dr. Scott Barbash from Hewlett, won his first tournament. As did Jack Herschkowitz of Cedarhurst, Scott Horowitz from Baldwin and Lawrence resident Yitzy Roz.

The club has also commissioned a new Past President’s plaque, as the original was lost in Hurricane Sandy.
