Antigone Rising rocks the Madison Theatre

The all-female band shares its high-energy country-rock tunes on Friday

In Concert

Antigone Rising

The all female, alt-country rock band is ready to entertain their audience with soaring three-part harmonies and vivacious live show. Catapulted into the national spotlight in 2005 with a groundbreaking major label debut that landed them in the top 20 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, the ladies have boldly claimed their place as a rock/country force to be reckoned with. Founding sisters Cathy and Kristen Henderson have always had the same philosophy: Play better than the boys and make sure the fans feel like part of the family.” The group’s latest single, “That Was The Whiskey,” is getting praise from critics as a foot stompin’ mash up, perfectly blending the band’s ability to rock with their gift for writing undeniably catchy songs. See for yourself when they visit the Madison Theatre.

Friday, Oct. 18, 8 p.m. $20, $5 students. Madison Theatre, Molloy College, 1000 Hempstead Ave., Rockville Centre. (516) 323-4444 or

Rock Hall Country Fair

Travel back to revolutionary days at Lawrence’s Rock Hall Museum. Enjoy some old-fashioned family fun at the Town of Hempstead’s Country Fair, an always appealing fall tradition, as the sights and sounds of a colonial era working farm are re-enacted on the storied grounds of historic Rock Hall. As always, there are many activities to take part in, including a harvest market, scarecrow-making, farm animals to see, pony rides, a children’s craft area, and the all-important pumpkin patch. Featured entertainers add to the fun, with colonial magician Levram the Great and country music group Bob Stump and the Blue Mountain Band.

Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19-20, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Rock Hall Museum, 199 Broadway, Lawrence. (516) 239-1157.
