Long Island Rail Road service resumes on Far Rockaway branch

Long Island Rail Road service on the Far Rockaway branch has resumed after being partially suspended on Feb. 15.

A car on the train tracks between Cedarhurst and Linwood avenues in Cedarhurst resulted in a partial suspension of service on the Far Rockaway branch between Valley Stream and Far Rockaway, Long Island Rail Road officials said.

The vehicle was near the third rail, which is where the electric runs to operates the trains.

Nassau police and the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department wereat the scene.

The LIRR delayed and terminated several trains, and NYC Transit cross-honored LIRR Tickets at Atlantic Terminal and Far Rockaway on the A line.

Nassau Inter County Express bus service also cross-honored LIRR tickets.
