Longtime Five Towns resident Harriette Rothenberg dies at 90

Long time Five Towns resident Harriette Rothenberg died in her Lynbrook home on Sept. 25. She was 90.

Originally from Brooklyn, Rothenberg worked as a bookkeeper for the firm of Spitz & Peck and married Nathan Rothenberg in 1939. They were married for 42 years.

The Rothenberg family owned the well-known Rothenberg supermarket located on Fifth Avenue in Cedarhurst.

Her family considered her “an intelligent, compassionate individual, who was well loved and respected by all who knew her.” Rothenberg lived in the Five Towns for 35 years.

She is survived by her daughter Lynne and son Ronald, her grandchildren Michael, Carole, Steven and Abbey and great grandchildren Caroline, Catherine and Evan.
