Overcast Man seriously injured in head-on Hewlett crash

A car and pickup truck crashed head-on in Hewlett on Seot. 2 and the driver of the car suffered serious injuries, officials said.

A car and a pickup truck crashed head-on at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Division Street in Hewlett at 3:25 p.m. on Sept. 2, according to police and fire officials, who responded to the scene.
The driver of the car was traveling north on Franklin Avenue and appeared to have driven into the southbound lane and collided with the truck, officials said.
Nassau police ambulance took the driver of the car to South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside. The man was deemed to be in serious condition, officials said. The driver of the truck declined medical attention. Franklin Avenue was closed to traffic for more than an hour before both vehicles were removed from the scene.
