The Lawrence Central Council PTA is sponsoring a "Meet the Candidates Night" on Wednesday, May 4 at 7 p.m. in the Lawrence Middle School Cafeteria.

This event gives the public an opportunity to listen to what the candidates for Lawrence's Board of Education have to say and gain an understanding of where they stand on positions that are crucial to the successful operation of the school district.

Candidates for the BOE are incumbents Murray Forman, who is currently the board's president and Dr. Asher Mansdorf, who is the vice president. Challenging Forman is Nicole Dilorio and Gwynette Campbell is opposing Mansdorf.

The budget and trustee vote is on Tuesday, May 17. The proposed Lawrence district budget is $93,150,155 and there is no associated tax rate increase.

Community members are invited to observe and participate in the question and answer forum which will be moderated by the League of Women Voters. All are welcome to attend.
