Frank Ramos, Five Towns painter, dies at 80

Frank Ramos, former Hewlett resident, died on Aug. 22, in Miami, Fla., after a long illness. He was 80.

Ramos lived in Hewlett until he moved to Florida five years ago to retire. He was a painter who serviced many members of the Five Towns and was also an avid fisherman.

Ramos is survived by his beloved wife Maureen, and step children, Margaret and Barbara, of Miami, Maureen, of Jericho, and Eugene, of Long Beach. A burial was held in Puerto Rico under the direction of the Allen Shaws Funeral Home in Miami Dade, Fla.

Harold C. Harrison, former Cedarhurst resident and noted lawyer, dies at 79

Harold C. Harrison, of Hollywood, Fla., and formerly of Cedarhurst, died in Florida on Aug. 14. He was 79.

He graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 1953 and defended Alice Crimmins in 1968. In addition to having a general legal practice, he taught Criminal Law to paralegals at Queens College, was a mentor to countless young lawyers, was an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and was a judge in Queens County Small Claims Court. In New York and Florida, he remained a devoted father, grandfather, friend and community member. He loved communicating with his friends and family via the Internet and e-mail.

He is survived by his wife, Muriel, his daughter, Corinne Rothbard, and her husband, Alan, of Cedarhurst, his son, Mitchell, of Coco Beach, Fla., and his daughter, Giselle L. Eras, and her husband, Ira, of Cedarhurst. Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren, Daniel, and his wife, Lisa, Eric, Richard, Nicole and Jason.

Funeral services were held at Parkside Memorial Chapel in Forest Hills on
Aug. 17, followed by a burial at Mount Hebron Cemetery. The family asks that donations in Harold’s memory be made to the American Diabetes Foundation via www.diabetes.org.
