Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department has a new chief, as James McHugh has succeeded David Campbell. It is the continuation of a family tradition, as James is the son of former LCFD Chief John McHugh. State Sen. Todd Kaminsky, a Democrat from Long Beach who represents the Five Towns, and Nassau County Executive Laura Curran visited the LCFD firehouse in Lawrence. Kaminsky presented the younger McHugh and other officers with proclamations on Feb. 9.
