New Lawrence superintendent named for 2011

A new superintendent designee has been named for the 2011-’12 school year. Director of Music and Arts-in-Education Gary Schall will be taking over for Dr. John Fitzsimons, who will be retiring at the end of the 2010-'11 school year.

Schall has been named as deputy superintendent for the 2010-'11 school year, what members of the school board call "a year of transition." Neither Schall nor Fitzsimons could be immediately reached for comment.

Still remaining in executive positions, School Board President Murray Forman was re-elected to his fourth year as president at the July 6 reorganization meeting, while current Board Vice President Asher Mansdorf was re-elected to his third year serving in that position.
