North Woodmere residents play and work after snow

Aproximately eight inches of snow fell in North Woodmere, according to Lauren Dana, a student columist for the Herald, who is another of the writers of the Hewlett Happenings column.

Two North Woodmere residents, Marci Gerber and Marc Goldstone, both New York City schoolteachers, had a rare day off for snow as newly inaugarated mayor, Bill de Blasio closed city schools on Jan. 3 due to the storm.

"It is a good day to catch up on planning for my fourth-grade students and doing a little baking for my family," Gerber said.

Goldstone is a physical education teacher who works with special needs children. His plans included cleanup and chores. "I put salt over my driveway and now I'm going to try and do some errands if the roads aren't too bad," he said.
