One-car crash in Cedarhurst

A motorist crashed into a fire hydrant in front of 333 Peninsula Blvd. in Cedarhurst at 2:15 p.m. on April 11.

Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department firefighters found the woman in the car and unconscious. The vehicle had to be lifted off of the hydrant. The motorist was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside by LCFD ambulance.

Her injuries are considered non-life threatening, according to LCFD Fire Chief John McHugh, adding that Lynbrook-based Long Island American Water was called to repair or replace the damaged hydrant.
