Remembering the military servicemen and women who lost their lives in combat to protect this nation is what Memorial Day is about, and the annual Lawrence-Cedarhurst march from the firehouse at Central and Washington avenues to Andrew J. Parise Cedarhurst Park completed that mission. The event’s began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial in Zion Park in Lawrence. It ended with a memorial service at the park that included a special remembrance for Parise. The longtime mayor of Cedarhurst died in February. He was a World War II veteran.
