Cedarhurst-based Shulamith School for Girls showed their support for U.S. military personnel.
Troop 1818 Tiger Scout Ezra Brodsky led his troop and helped carry the banner.
Longtime Cedarhurst resident, Leonore Weidenfeld played the role of Lady Liberty on the Barbershop Quartet float. She said she loved every minute of the parade and was happy to see so many spectators from the town come out to celebrate this year. "It's fantastic," she said.
Walking tall wearing his patriotic garb was Uncle Sam.
A tweaked Cedarhurst-Lawrence Memorial Day Parade took place on a different day — Sunday instead of Monday — and the parade route was extended to begin at the intersection of Rockaway Turnpike and Central Avenue in Lawrence from its usual start at Washington and Central avenues by the Lawrence-Cedarhurst firehouse.
Marchers included many of the schools and organizations in Cedarhurst, Lawrence and other Five Towns communities.
