Peeling off the summer, already feeling senior stress

A new school year for many kids means being guided to a new level of maturity, starting over with a clean slate, learning a higher level of material, and of course getting new school supplies.

This year is my senior year at Lawrence Woodmere Academy. As you most likely already know, senior year comes with added stress. Most importantly it asks the question, where will you go from here, and what will you do? Definitely an easy question for someone my age! All jokes aside, once you step into senior year, you must have an idea about your purpose in life, and where you will be happiest.

Although there are plentiful resources provided by LWA, the decisions and self- realizations ultimately come down to us. If you are like me and can’t decide whether to have an apple or banana, well, these decisions are even harder. You spend your whole life up to this point envisioning your future self, but when your future turns into the present, that’s when it gets scary.

However, I am grateful for the experiences that have led me to this spot on my road of life. Despite the normal nerves that I am feeling, I have many people here at LWA that support me and are assisting me in this monumental process.

Coming back to LWA after summer vacation is like seeing your family after a two-month break. The excitement truly radiates off the walls. As we walk in, we are greeted by Alan Bernstein and shake hands with the school’s headmaster.

Students gather in the library and cafeteria, running and jumping to greet friends that they haven’t seen; teachers and students catch up, and Marc Hoyle, principal of the upper school, comes around to crack a quick joke, but also to make sure that we are in compliance with the dress code. I can speak for my classmates and teachers when I say that LWA is excited for another successful year!
