Planting the seeds of safety at Hewlett's Growers Market

Posted

A free comprehensive child safety identification kit was provided to parents by the Town of Hempstead at the Long Island Growers Market at Grant Park in Hewlett last Friday.

Fingerprints and photographs of the children, along with a strand of the child’s hair are part of the kit. More than 70,000 children have had kits made. The Town keeps no record of the fingerprints and photos.

Hempstead’s “Speedy Pass” mobile passport service for renewing passports was also available. Residents must have an original or certified copy with a raised seal of their birth certificate and the old passport or certificate of naturalization. The Growers Market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and continues through Friday. Nov. 18.
