Remembering 9/11 in Lawrence

Posted

Lawrence Middle School students gathered in its auditorium for a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony last Friday that featured the singing of the Star Spangled Banner and “I’ll Be There” by middle school chorus members. Poems written and read by LMS students were also a poignant part of the ceremony. Dr. Vicki Karant, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, spoke to all in attendance on the importance of being accepting of one another. The ceremony closed with students coming onto the stage to partake in the moment of reflection that included lighting three candles (one red, one white, and one blue) and joining in the singing of God Bless America, led by members of the chorus.
