Remembering Marilyn Monroe in Lido Beach

The legend of Marilyn Monroe continues to burn brightly.

A “Candle in the Wind” tribute to mark the 50th anniversary of Monroe’s death was held at MaliBlue Oyster Bar at the Malibu Beach Club in Lido beach on Aug. 2. She died on Aug. 5, 1962.

Fans, residents and staff members had a candlelight vigil to remember the actress lwho lit up the movie screen in such movies as “The Seven Year Itch,” “Some Like it Hot,” and “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.”

Monroe visited Long Island and its beaches several times, including her famous 1949 trek to Jones Beach, where she was photographed posing in and around the pool area. As part of the remembrance Malibu Beach Club staff dressed as Marilyn Monroe look-a-likes.
