Robbery in Franklin Square

Robbery Squad detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred on May 7 at 1:08 pm in Franklin Square.

According to detectives, a man went into Astoria Federal Savings Bank, 711 Franklin Ave., through the rear door, approached the transaction window and handed a robbery demand note to the teller.

The teller complied and passed the subject an undetermined amount of cash. The thief then fled the bank through the same rear door.

The subject was described as being white, approximately 45-47 years old, about 6’2”-6’3” tall with a heavy build, around 230 pounds, short straight black hair with a mustache and goatee. He was wearing a dark gray pullover sweatshirt, blue jeans and dark colored sneakers with white bottoms. He was also wearing black plastic framed sunglasses.

During the robbery, there were eight employees and four customers present. No injuries were reported.
