Five Towns Community Chest’s Youth Board partnered with the staff of Applebee’s to serve 140 meals of pancakes and scrambled eggs to local families and raise the stated goal of $1,000 on May 17. The proceeds will be used to rebuild the playhouse at the Inwood-based Five Towns Early Learning Center’s awards-winning outdoor classroom. Restaurant manager Greg Desrosiers gave a tour of the kitchen and seating areas, prior to serving the food. He explained safety procedures and instructed Community Chest volunteers on how best to perform the duties of greeters, waiters, busers and beverage managers.
