So much for spring. On the first day of the supposedly warmer season a winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service is in effect from Friday 6 a.m. until Saturday at 2 a.m. as a storm is expected to drop 3 to 5 inches of snow on the Five Towns before changing to rain.

Officials in Lawrence village said that crews are ready to salt and plow and there ius plenty of salt. The Village of Cedarhurst will be cleaning the storm drains in and around the flood prone and low lying areas of the village.

To avoid possible flood damage, the Cedarhurst trustees said residents north of West Broadway — between Peninsula Boulevard and West Broadway — can park their vehicles in metered spaces only in village parking lots. They are asking for residents to leave a note on the dashboard with your name and address, along with the words, Parked due to flooding condition.

Should residents have a non-emergency problem, call Cedarhurst village at (516) 295-5770. Every effort will be made to help, officials said. If there is an emergency, call 911.
