From nursery school children to seventh-graders, students at the Brandeis School unleashed their inner scientist by exploring a variety of topics for the Lawrence school’s annual science fair on May 27.
Nursery-age kids learned about a germination station; pre-kindergarteners studied plant life and conducted a stem experiment; kindergartners examined butterflies; first-graders dug into animal habitats; second-graders looked up at the solar system; third-graders delved into simple and complex machines and fourth- through seventh-graders applied the scientific method to a diverse set of projects.
Raz Levin, the head of school, said it is vital to Brandeis’s future to highlight both the students academic success as well as their Jewish spirit. “It is important as an American school to work towards developing the next generation of scientists and this effort begins with teaching the scientific method in our classrooms,” he said. “A curious learned is a good learner.”
